APPRECIATION
10 THB fcDHOft. Dear Sir,— Will you kindly allow me space enough in your paper to acknowledge with thanks the last of the many j kindly and considerate actions on the part of Ml 1 . Massey and the Government to the relatives and friends of the New Zealand Expeditionary Forces, now on active service. I refer to the memorandum just to hand containing much valuable information re addressing letters, rates of postage for letters, parcels, etc., etc. ; allotment of pay ; in case of sickness or wounds; when rumours are current; and the most suitable gifts to send. The drawing up of snch a paper shows a thought fulness which if appreciated half as much by other people . as by myself and family, will rank highly indeed. The precautions taken to check alarming rumours will meet with the universal approval of all those whose sons, brothers, and friends are now far away, and to whom such rumours may bring needless sorrow. I may say I have two sons serving with the forces — one with the Advance Party at Samoa, and the other with the main body. The knowledge of all the Government has done and is doing to lessen the anxiety consequent is of no small comfort to us all.— l am, etc., T. FITZGERALD EAGAR. Kilbirnie, 16th November.
