Khandallah possesses some very enthusiastic bowlers, but unfortunately the finances of the local club have not always been on the soundest basis. Mr. J. Ai Plimmer, who has been a benefactor of the club' on many occasions, recently offered to make a present of the sum of £200 (which he advanced to the club in the earlier stages of its history) if the members who held debentures to the extent of over £240 on the club's property would in turn surrender their debentures. Mr. Plimmer's offer was made conditionally upon the debentures being redeemed without any cost to the club. The magnanimous offer made by Mr. Plimmer was readily re> sponded to, and the Khandallah Bowling Club is now in the happy position of having cleared off a debt of over £450 at no expense to itself. Last night a complimentary dinner was tendered to Mr. Plimmer, which was' attended by practically the whole of the members of the Bowling Clttb. Opportunity was taken at the gathering to make Mr. Phmmer a life-member of the club and to present him with an illuminated address. The evening was spent in a most enjoyable manner, songs and musical items being contributed by those present. The president of the club (Mr. C. C. Crump) was in the chair, and a number of .toasts were honoured with the greatest enthusiasm, the principal one being, of course, that of the gueat of the evening.
