COIUNTHIC REPOHT3 "ALL WELL." ' Information has been received that the Shaw, ! Savill, and Albion Company'i> R.M.S. Coriiithie, Homeward bound from Wellington, reported "all well" at the Falkland Islands, north-east of Cape Horn DELPHIC COMING FKOM HOME The local agents for the Shaw, Savlll, and Albion Company have received cabled advice stating that the lintr Delphic, which is relieving the Athenic in the London-Wellington mail service, has sailed from the Home port NIAGARA AT AUCKLAND j From Vancouver the Union Company's R.M.S. Niagara arrived at Auckland" yesterday afternoon—due date. She was to have sailed for Sydney direct at 5 p.m. to-day, and on this trip le acting as intercolonial steamer in place of the Maheuo LAID UP AT AUCKLAND Tho more vessels have been added to the j alrealy lengthy list of steamers and sailing craft at present laid up hi Auckland, harbour (states the Herald). These are the well-known barQuentine Senorita, and the Northern Company's coastal steamer Claymore. The Senoritu has just completed discharging a cargo of coal from j Newcastle. It wafc anticipated that the vessel I would load a cargo of fcawn timber at this port for Sydney, but as there was none offering, the Senorita was towed to an anchorage amongst the fleet in Sulphur Bay. The Claymore was recently withdrawn from the West Coast trade, and has joined the list of unemployed for the time being. The' coastal steamer Rotomahana, which has been undergoing survey and overhaul for several weeks,, will also, in the course of a few days, be taken to an anchorage in the stream for an indefinite period. Other vessels laid up Include the Union Company's steamers Moura, Taluue, and Hauroto, the tugs Stella and Lyttelton, and the ketch Lizzie Taylor SCHOONER GEM WRECKED News was received In Auckland on Friday stating that the schooner Gem was aground ufc the Noisies, a group of small islands between I Motutapu and Coromandel. The schooner was I riding at anchor when a squall of considerable violence struck her, and drove her on to a rocky part of the (.hore. The captain and crew of three had no difficulty in getting ashore. It was believed that the veesel would prove it total loss. The Gem is a small vessel of 20 gross tons, and was built in 1874. She has been engaged for borne time past carrying shingle between coastal ports, and when she was driven ashore she wa3 loaded with CO tons of shingle for Messrs. J. J. Craig, Ltd., Auckland Owing to her late arrival at Dunedin on Thursday afternoon the Tarawera did not go into dock, and arrived back in Wellington yesterday. He.r cleaning and painting will be carried out at Port Chalmers next trip No further advice has yet been received as to when the Maheno, laid up in Sydney, i« likely to resume running. At Friday's meeting of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce the chairman (Mr. B. Kent) said there had been no movement on the part of the firemen -to go on 'the bteamer. The vessel, he understood, was very easy for firemen to work. Trade ha,d fallen off considerably, and the vessel could not be run for philanthropic purposes. They could only hope for better times to come
