PROFESSIONAL ORCHESTRA.

The "war" programree of the Professional Orchestra at Sis Majesty's Theatre last evening was greatly enjoyed by the comparatively large audience. The resulb of the performance, announced by Mr. R. Fletcher, was £28 for the Mayor's Patriotic Fund. Tho principal item was Tschaikowsky's "1812," in which the orchestra -(under Mr. Herbert Bloy's direction) was assisted by the Tramways Band. Mr. Hamilton Hodges appropriately sang "Why do the Nations so Furiously Rage Together?" Other numbers were "Marche Slave" (by Tschaikowsky), "African Dances" (by Montague Ring), and the highly popular Humoreske of Dvorak. The National Anthem was specially arranged for the occasion by, Mr. Bloy and treated in a quite novel manner. The audience appeared to be much moved by the unusual cate and attention bestowed upon both the orchestration and the performance of this familiar yet hitherto muchneglected feature 1 of musical and other entertainments.
