BETWEEN AMERICAN AND BRITISH SHIPOWNERS. TO CAPTURE GERMANY'S CARRYING TRADE. . LONDON, 26th October. Ihe New York correspondent of The limes says that it is reported, that an ! alliance has been formed between Liverpool and New York shipowners to capture Germany's carrying- trade. The u^ n consist of at least twenty snipe flying the American flag, and will operate from New York to Australia, India, China, and South America. The alliance of New York and Liverpool shipowners has subscribed capital for a. fleet of at teast twenty big cargo •teamer.a, flying the American flag, in order to capture Germany's carrying trade. The alliance is the outcome of Herr Derburgh's criticism to the effect that Britain intended to seize the South American trade without giving Americaa chance of participating.
