WELLINGTON SUBUBBS. Mr. R. A. Wright, Government candidate for Wellington Suburbs seat, addressed elector* at Pahautanui last evening. Mr. W. Galloway presided. The candidate dealt with the work done by the Government eince it had. been in office, and pointed out that ita worst enemies could not accuse it of jobbery. Its administration was clean, nnd ifc had honestly attempted lo govern the country in the interests of all classes. The Government had actively engaged in promoting land settlement, and had been more successful in this direction than it* predecessors. Mr. Massey was one of the best land adminsfcTators the country ever had. He know the settlers' position exactly. lie thought as an act of bare justice the present Government should have another term of office, and he believed the majority of tlie people in the Dominion were of that opinion. A vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. Barclay, seconded by Mr. J. Gray, and carried. Mr. Wright, will apeak at the Town Hall, Khandallah, thie evening at 8 o'clock. The Mayor (Mr. C. C. Crump) will preside. Mr. F. T. Moore, Labour candidate for the Wellington Suburbs seat, will open his campaign at Jobnsonvillo on Thursday evening next. Mr. Moore has to contest 1 a preliminary ballot, to be taken next week, with Mr. J. E. Fitzgerald, the Liberal nominee, in order to decide who shall represent the Liberal and Labour interests against Mr. R. A. Wright, the Reform nominee. Mr. R. 0. Fullbrook announces that he will contest Wellington North in the interests of Labour and Prohibition. SIR JAMES CARROLL. (II TELEGRAPH— PItESS ASSOCIATION.) ; DANNEVIRKE, This Day. Sir James Carroll delivered a. political address at Takapau on Monday evening, devoting himself to criticism of the Government for its failure to fulfil election pledges and shirking responsibilities. The meeting accorded him a vote of thanks, and expressed confidence in the Liberal Parly and concluded with cheers for Sir Joseph Ward.
