KELBURN BOWLING CLUB

♦ ANNUAL MEETING. The annual general meeting of the Kelburn Bowling Club was held last night. The annual report of the directors disclosed the fact that during the year they had arranged a lease of an acre of tliß Town Belt from the City Council for a term of twenty-one years. On this ground a new green has been laid, measuring^ 110 ft by 110 ft, but unfortunately, owing to unfavourable weather and other circum-' stances, the sowing of the seed was delayed until early spring, with the result that the green will not be available for play until the end of the year. In the meantime arrangements have been made to utilise a portion of the old green for play until the new one is ready. The directors have disposed of nearly all the land comprising the old green at a satisfactory figure. The winners of club contests were : — Singles, P. M'Coll ; pairs, E. S. Baldwin and N. M'Robie (skip) ; rink, F. Widdop, S. G. Hamerton, J. S. Mac Arthur, and A. W. Knowles (skip). The office-bearers elected for the current season are as follow : — President, Mr. F. Meadowcroft ; viee j president, Mr, T. Gray ; lion, secretary, Mr. F. T. R. Johnson ; hon. treasurer, Mr. J. MacArthur ; directors, Messrs. F. Widdop, A. Johnston, R. E. Manley, C. B. Harton, J. A. Doherty, A. D. Thompson, A. W. Hutchings, and J. M. Hutchison; auditor, Mr. E. C. Batten ; delegates to centre, Messrs. T. Gray and F. T. R. Johnson. A special vote of thanks was passed to Mr. F. Widdop for his help and assistance in all the arrangements in connection with the preparation of the new green and pavilion. Mr. Widdop's untiring efforts in this direction have proved of incalculable value to the club. The ceremonial opening of the season will be postponed this year until the new green is ready. Members are requested, however, to meet for play on the old green on Saturday week. Thereafter the ground will be available for play daily as usual.
