ACTION AT TERMONDE
THOUSAND GERMANS KILLED. ANTWERP, 7th September (Morning). The Germans have been repulsed from Termonde. Many German wounded have arrived at Antwerp. A wounded German lieutenant declared that only three of his company survived the heavy rifle and artillery fire to which they were opposed. Another officer stated the fire from the forts destroyed an entire battalion of Germans, •who fifed from behind barricades of their dead, of whom at least 450 were abandoned in the field. ANTWERP, 7th September. It is officially stated that a thousand Germans were killed in the battle southward of Termonde. The Germans retreated in disorder, and their attempted movement was completely checked owing to the splendid action of the Belgian artillery. SITUATION IN FRANCE SATISFACTORY. _,_._, WASHINGTON, 6th September. The French Embassy states the situation in France is satisfactory, and Paris is fully prepared.
