The vessel experienced an uneventful run across to Wellington, the weather conditions being good and the sea calm. < ' The weather on the West Coast continues very bad, with a consequent' interruption of shipping. The Arahura was unable to get out of Westport last night, but it was hoped to despatch her for Welllhgton direct at noon to-day. The Flora's departure from Dunedih has been postponed until Saturday. She will not therefore arrive at Wellington until- Wednesday next, sailing the same day for Picton, Westport, and Greymouth. , ' BY TELEGRAPH. NELSON, 12th August. , It is specially requested by the Defence Department that gifts of clothing, equipment, or other articles intended for the Expeditionary Force and forwarded to the Defence authorities direct should not' be addressed to any individual officer; otherwise thoy are apt to be mislaid. The best way to address parcels is simply the Defence Stores, at Wellington, Auckland, Christchurch, or Dunedin, as the case may be. They should be marked also with the words " For the Expeditionary Force," and should bear some indication as to whom they are from. The committee appointed to raise funds for the acquisition for the Dominion Ai't^ Gallery of the picture "The Flight Into' Egypt" by the late F. Goodall, ( R.A., met yesterday in the Mayor's roorn^ when it was decided to postpone further operations until a later and more favourable time. The fixing of the date for the next meeting was left in the hands of the Mayor and Messrs. Gore and Atkins, who will also interview Mr. Baillie on the matter. Like many similar (unctions, the bazaar being organised by the Football *\ecoeiation and the Tramways Band has been indefinitely postponed on accuiint of the war.
