DESTINATION SIGNALS
10 TUB EDITOR. Sir,— ln further reference to the quibbling re the destination screen on the Hataitai cars, there must be dozens of people who board the cars at Courtenay-place who do not sco the metal disc in consequence of the crowd in which they are wedged. The trouble also arises at night ; everyone cannot remember the multitudinous combinations of light signals. Why cannot tho authorities ask the conductors how many people offer the fare to Kilbirnie and are told "Hataitai only"? These passengers get off atßoyd's corner, and the majority walk the rest of the way to their destination. Apparently the trouble of altering the screens outweighs the loss of revejiue and constant irritation of the public. Even if there is no room on the present screens, surely the Tramway Board will be, preparing new ones at no distant date. Cannot these be arranged to show ''Hataitai"? — I am, etc., DISC H. 24th June, 1914.
