SOUTHERN GRAIN AND PRODUCE
(BY TELEGRAPH.— PRESS ASSOCMnON.) CHRISTCHURCH, 29th May. The local grain market is practically at a standstill, there being so little doing in wheat and oats, and nothing in barley. The offerings of grain by growers are very limited, and except for wheat there is little demand. The potato, market is dull, as supplies now in merchants' hands are sufficient for requirements, bomo buyers aro only offering £2 15s a ton, hut there are few sellers at this figure. Those who have not yet pitted their crops are asking at country stations £3. Buyers mx\ however, not anxious to do business, even at a lower figure. The northern market is well supplied, but a few fresh orders are coming to hand.
