DROWNING FATALITY

(BY TELEGRAPH.— PRESS ASSOCIATION.) GORE, This Day. John C. Carrol], aged thirty-eight, employed on the permanent way at Alataura by the Railvyay Department was drowned at 6.30 this morning. Deceased was crossing the river in a Hat-bottomed boat to a section on the opposite side, and was washed over the tails. The boat was picked up four miles below Mataura, but so far there is no trace of the body. Deceased leaves a widow and four children, the eldest being eight years.
