A special meeting of the Ohinemuri Mines and Batteries Union was convened for last evening, for the purpose of " enquiring into the dismissal of men from the employ of mining companies." This will absorb most of the surplus labour resultant upon the local dismissals and the stoppage of operations in the Crown mine at Karangahake. One hundred men wero to ' bo put off from the Crown mine, Karangahake, on Wednesday, but about half of these will be taken on at tho Talisman.
