HATAITAI AFFAIRS
The monthly meeting of the IS- cc.:tive Committee of the Municipal Hatepayers' Association was held last evening. Mr. Leigh Hunt presiding. Mr. Hunt made feeling reference to the loss to the district through the death of Mr. A. 11. Gngg, and it was resolved to place on record an appreciation of his good services. The resolution was carried by the members standing. The question of the overcrowding of the tramcars caused considerable discussion, but it was felt to be useless to make any further protest in face of the official statement of the council that every effort was being made to cope with the shortage of cars. It was decided to ask the Tramway Board to have Hataitai added to the names shown on the destination signals, ft was stated that the present system of showing Kilbirnie as the destination of the car. with tho letter IT on a disc, led to considerable confusion to the travelling public. The committee appointed to go into tho matter of a school site reported that tlie Minister of Education had viewed tho proposed sites, but that no decision had yet been announced. A committee was set up to prepare a report on the most suitable spots to continue tree-planting during the season. A special i?r]p of Japanese- unmnles will be held at Pmiglo'sj Ltd., to-morrow.
