SHEARERS' CONFERENCE
ORGANISERS' EXPENSES. AMENDMENT TO ARBITRATION ACT WANTED. The official report of the Shearers' Conference states that upon proceedings being resumed yesterday, the question of organisers' expenses and salaries was considered, and ifc was resolved that the present system of paying ,a weekly salary, plus costs of travelling expenses, stamps, and telegrams, be adhered to. The question of amalgamating with the A.W.U. was considered, and it was resolved to refer the matter to the, A.W.U. for further advice. The affairs of the Gisborne union 1 were discussed, and that union was con' gratulated upon its flourishing condition. ' The Gisborne accounts were passed for payment as brought down by Mr. Morgan. Various routine business was transacted, and it was arranged that conference wait upon the Minister of Labour in regard to accommodation and amending the Arbitration Act to allow of the registration of Dominion unions. The question of daggy sheep was discussed, and it was unanimously resolvedthat members be notified that in the opinion of conference da'gging was not shearing, and where employers neglected to dag the sheep before coming on the board, shearers should refuse to do the daggltig. The conference resumed to-day, when matters affecting administration were discussed at length.
