♦ WELLINGTON WORKING MEN'S CLUB The annual meeting of the Working Men's Club chess and draughts section was held on Monday evening, when there was a good attendance, twentyone members being present. Mr. J. Milesi, chairman for 1914, presided. Tho annual report, of which a copy appeared in our last Monday's issue, was unanimously adopted. The election of officers resulted as follows : — President. E. Mace; vice-presidents, P. Woods, J. Milesi, and J. G. W. Dalrymple; referee for chess, A. G. Fell (of the Wellington Chess Club); referee for draughts, J Leggatt ; lion, treasurer, Jas. Wilson ; hon. secretary, F. K. Rolling ; assistant lion, sec, J. P. Key ; consulting members for chess, R. J. Barnes and J. Burgess ; for draughts, C. Erickson and J. Reid ; match committee for chess, Messrs Barnes, Eton, and J. Reid ; for draughts, Messrs. Erickson, J. Reid, and Jas. Wilson; delegates to N«w Zealand Chess Association, Messrs. J» G. W. Dalrymple and J. Milesi. It was unanimously decided to nominate Mr. Dalrymple, who has been a delegate for the past six years, as a North Island vice-president of the New Zealand Chess Association. It was decided to hold annual handicap tdurnaments on the same lines as those of last year, the entries to close on the 31st instant. A suggestion by Mr. J. Reid that a championship shield be obtained for competition in the draughts section was well received, and it was unanimously decided to, refer the matter to the General Committee with a recommendation for favourable consideration. Mr. T. Warren kindly offered' the prize won by him in last year's 'draughts tournament for competition in this year's contest. An interesting sketch of the Draughts Championship Tournament, recently held in Auckland, was given by the club's representative, Mr. C. Ericksoi. He made it qiear that tho contest was a very strenuous one, that the tourney was full of "incident," and that the competitors were most hospitably treated, one and all carrying away happy recollections of tho good time provided by the Auckland Management Committee. Votes of thanks to last year's office bearers, to 'donors of trophies, and to, the chairman for presiding, closed the' meeting.
