It was decided to hold annual handicap tdurnaments on the same lines as those of last year, the entries to close on the 31st instant. A suggestion by Mr. J. Reid that a championship shield be obtained for competition in the draughts section was well received, and it was unanimously decided to, refer the matter to the General Committee with a recommendation for favourable consideration. Mr. T. Warren kindly offered' the prize won by him in last year's 'draughts tournament for competition in this year's contest. An interesting sketch of the Draughts Championship Tournament, recently held in Auckland, was given by the club's representative, Mr. C. Ericksoi. He made it qiear that tho contest was a very strenuous one, that the tourney was full of "incident," and that the competitors were most hospitably treated, one and all carrying away happy recollections of tho good time provided by the Auckland Management Committee. Votes of thanks to last year's office bearers, to 'donors of trophies, and to, the chairman for presiding, closed the' meeting.
