INCREASED GRADUATED LAND TAX

EFFECT IN HAWKES BAY. (BY TELEGRAPH— PRESS ASSOCIATION.) GISBORNE, 14th May. In the course of a speech here the following interesting figures were quoted by the Prime Minister in connection with tho subdivisions of rural land _in Hawkes Bay as a result of the operation of the increased graduated land tax. During the twelve months ended 31st March, 1914, a total area of 37,500 acres of freehold land was subdivided and disposed of. Tho number of subdivisions were 336, or an average of 111 acres per subdivision. Mr. Massey added that the figures for other portions of tho Dominion were not yet available.
