ATTACK ON KRUPPS
RENEWED IN THE REICHSTAG DR. LIEBKNECHT'S ASSERTIONS AN INTERNATIONAL RING. (By Telegraph.— Press Association.— Copyright.) (Received May 13, 11 a.m.) BERLIN, 12th May. During a debate in the Reichstag on the Army Estimates, Dr. Liebknecnt (Socialist) said that at least twenty-five millions sterling had been invested in the German armaments industry. He renewed his attack on Krupps, and asserted that many high officers arid other officials were personally interested in shipbuilding and armour-plate firms. He added that an international ring existed to supply explosives, under the leadership of an English firm, and declared that Germany had supplied ammunition for Ulster. The War Minister deplored the injury that had been done to Krupps by Dr. Liebknecht's attacks. [In April of last year, Dr. Liebknecht, in the Reichstag, caused a sensation by stating that Krupps and the manufacturers of Mauser rifles had resorted to illicit methods by inducing leading organs of the French press to create an anti-German sentiment, with the object of facilitating an increase in German armaments. He also accused Krupps of secretly corrupting officers and officials of the Prussian War Office, so as to secure early information regarding contracts, and an insight into the affairs of competing firms. As the result of an enquiry, several officers received sentences of imprisonment.]
