REV. W. S. POTTER'S FAREWELL
On Thursday evening a large attendance gathered in the Webb-street Church to bid farewell to the Rev. W. S. Potter, who has completed his third term of ministry in that chinch. Mr. C. M. Luke presided, and was supported by the Revs. J. J. Lewis, J. G. Chapman, and P. J. Cossum. Apologies were a'eceived from Revs. J. Dawson and S. Knowles Smith. Addresses were delivered by Mr. C. M. Luke, largely reminiscent of the history of the church with which he has been so long conneoted. and Mr. Newham, senioi steward. During the evening Mr. Graves presented to Mr. Luke the world's Sunday school certificate for twenty years' service. A presentation was made to Mr*. Potter of a handbag, suitably inscribed, and to Mr. Potter of an address and purse of sovereigns from the congregation, and a wallet from the Ladies' Bible Class. The choir sang two anthems, Misses Walpole and Petherick and Mr. Cutfovtli rendered solos, and Mrs-. Ralph gave a lecitation. The Rev. Mr. Potter will close his ministry in this church on Sunday next, and no doubt many of his old friends will take the opportunity of attending those farewell services.
