RAM AND EWE FAIR (BY TELEGRAPH.— PRESS ASSOCIATION.)
DUNEDIN, 2nd April. The annual ram and ewe fair under the auspices of the Otago A. and P. Sbciety was held at Burnside to-day, when there was a representative attendance of breeders. The opinion expressed by one or two leading breeders was that the quality of sheep forward, taking them all round, could have been much improved, and that those forward were not by any means representative specimens of different breeds ; also, that the best of the rams had been disposed of privately. Fifteen Romney Marsh stud rams were offered, and 13 were sold at prices ranging from 12 guineas to 3 guineas. Nineteen Border Leicesters were offered, and 18 were sold at prices ranging from 20£ guineas to 4^ guineas. Only two English Leicester stud rams were offered, and they realised 4£ guineas each. The only Lincoln stud ram in the yard realised 3 guineas. Eight Corriedale stud rams realised 33i guineas, the best price being 5 guineas. Border Leicester flock rams sold from 54 guinea* to 4 guineas; English Leicesters, 3 guineas ; Corriedales, 6| guineas to 6 guineas; Border Leicesters, 2£ guineas to 2 guineas.
