DIVORCE CASES
An application in divorce, made by Mary Ann Palamountain, with John Arthur Palamountain, engineer, of Petone, as respondent, was heard to-day by his Honour the Chief Justice (Sir Robert Stout) Mr. Ayson appeared for the petitioner and Mr. P. Jackson for the respondent. The petitioner stated that the parties Avere married in December, 1911, and had lived at Petone since then. Ethel Bolton. with whom she alleged the respondent had had improper relations, was her sister, 20 years of age. Petitioner had no children. The sister had been staying with them since February, 1913. The petitioner went away for a holiday and returned on 3rd June, and she at, once noticed that something was wiong. Her husband neglected her, and treated her sister in a way that was too intimate. On one occasion the petitioner saw her husband and her sister occupying the same room, and their misbehavour after that was quite open. Her mother had been a witness of it, and had protested against it ; and neither the respondent nor the girl had made any denial. All the, respondent had said was :t: t "Blame me, not the girl." The petitioner wad since left the home. Emma Bolton, of Wanganui, mother of the petitioner, gavo corroborative cvi* dence. There was no defence, and his Honour ordered a decree nisi^ to be made absolute in three months, with costs against the respondent. !
