CAMDEN MURDER STARCHFIELD'S TRIAL

The case against tho man Starchfield for the murder of his eeven-year-old eon in a railway carriage at Gamden, rests on the testimony of three witnesses as to his identification, but .the evidenco is conflicting. A witness named White noticed huskiness in Starchfield's voice in the Police Court, reminding him of tho huskiness. of the man who was talking to the deceased boy at Comden Station. NOT GUILTY. CHEERS FOR THE ACCUSED MAN NOT SUFFICIENT EVIDENCE FOH * A JURY. (Received April 2, 11 a.m.) LONDON, Ist, April. When the case for the Crown wae closed, Mr. Justice Atkin remarked that the evidence against Stai-chfield depended entirely on indentification by three witnesses, two of whom had not aeon Starchfield before. Mr. Justice Atkin suggested that it was not safe to allow the case to go to a jury, though there was no imputation against the witnesses. Mr. Bodkin, K.C., agreed to discontinue the case, and a verdict of .not guilty was returned, the Judge remark* ing that the Coroner had violated all principles upon which an enquiry should be conducted. A large crowd cheered Slaichfield as he left tho Court.
