The Right Hon W. F. Massey is at Dunedin, the Hon. J. Allen at Rotorua, the Hon. W. H. Herries at Auckland, the Hon. F. M. B. Fisher at Foxton, the Hon.' Dr. Pomare at Huntly. Other Cabinet Ministers are in Wellington. The Hon. R. H. Rhodes will leave for the South to-night. The Hon. H. D. Bell hps advised the executive of the Westland Pioneers' Memorial that he will visit Hokifcika on Easter Tuesday for the purpose of unveiling the memorial. . Mr. Fred Jones, of Messrs. _ H. J. Jones and Son, Ltd., Wanganui, is at present in Wellington. The term of office of Mr. W. Milne (painaru) and Mr. D. J. Nathan (Wellington) as directors of the Bank of New Zealand expired to-day. Mr. H. B. Bainbridge has been elected secretary of the Wellington Centre of the St. John Ambulance Association, vice Mr. J. D. Avery, resigned. 1 Colonel Robin, Quartermaster-General of the New Zealand Defence Forces, will probably leave for Palmerston North and Auckland to-morrow on departmental busines3. f Major-General Godley, Commandant of the Forces, will leave by the Main Trunk express this evening for Te Awamutu to4ake part in the Orakau celebrations. \ At Te Kuiti a. meeting of supporters of the Opposition Party decided that the late member for Taumarunui, Mr, W. T. Jennings, should be invited to contest the seat at the next election. It was decided by the Board of Governors of^ Canterbury College yesterday to establish a chair of Mental Science at the college, and to appoint 'Mr. C. F. Salmond (present lecturer) to the professorship, at a salary of £650 pelannum. A private telegram received in Wellington announces the death, at Launceston, last Friday, of Mr. Corrick sen., father of the well-known Corrick family of musicians and entertainers, who have visited this city. Heart disease was the cause of death. Captain G. Lambert, who has been trading to and from the port of Grey for_ the past 'thirty years in charge of Union Company's steamers, was made a presentation by personal friends in Greymouth (states a Press Association message). Reference was made to his exceptionally good record in working the West Coa-st harbours. Captain Lambert retires from the service at Wellington tomorrow. Chief Warder C. J. Knight, who has been transferred from the Terrace Gaol to the Mount Eden Prison, Auckland, was, prior to his departure, presented with a number of handsome presents by the senior and subordinate officers. A silver-mounted dressing case was presented to ]\lrs. Knight in recognition, of the many kindly actions done by her during the term of her husband's employment at the gaol. Professor A. R. Acheson, son of Major Robert Acheson, of Southland, has been appointed consulting engineer in charge of the Bureau of Gas and Electricity of Syracuse, New York, a city of some 150,000 inhabitants. The new d titles will not entail tho giving up of his connection with Syracuse University, where Professor Acheson is head of the Mechanical Engineering School, witn. a large staff of professors and lecturers under him.
