LIBERALS AND LABOUR
MR. WEBB AMPLIFIES RECENT REMARKS. (BT ISLBGRtPH.— PRESS ASSOCIATION.) GREYMOUTH. This Day. Mr. Webb, M.P., speaking at Dunollie, amplified his remarks anent the 1 Liberal Party. He said no attempt had been made to secure an alliance between the Social Democrats and the Liberals. He fully expected to have a Liberal oppose him. Where no Social Democrat stood he expected Labour to vote with the Liberal as against the Reform candidate. He emphasised the desirability of perfecting Social Democrat organisations, as in that party lay the best hope of achieving the aims and aspirations of the labouring class, and he believed it should retain its separate entity, opposing any alliance with any other party whatsoever.
