HARBOUR BOARD CRICKET CLUB ANNUAL SMOKE CONCERT.

The annual smoke concert in connection with the Wellington Harbour Board Ciicket Club was held in St. Peter's Schoolroom, Ghuznee-stveet, last evening Mr. A. V. Hale-Monro presided over an attendance of about 140 members and friends. Among those present were :— Messrs. R. Fletcher (chairman of the board), R. A. Wright, H. E. Nicholls (secretary of the board), J. E. Gamble (accountant), and B. L. Salmond (chairman of the Junior Cricket Association). During the evening toasts were honoured as follow : "The King," "The Cricket Club and Miniature Rifle Club " (proposed by the chairman and responded to by Messrs. H. Clarke and J. Russell), " Harbour Employees " (by Mr. Grindley and replied to by Mr. W. Becker), "Junior Cricket Association" (by Mr. A. Davies and responded to by Mr. B. L. Salmond); "Presidents. Vice-pi esidents, and Guests" (proposed .by Mr. R. Boyes). "The Casuals" (proposed by the chairman and replied to by Mr. Adams), and "The Press." An excellent programme was provided and assisted greatly towards the evening's enjoyment. Items were contributed by the following : — Mpssi's. Culverwell, G. Hood, G. T. Leyden, E. C. Luff, A. V. Hale-Monro, and A. Burrows (songs) ; Mr. H. Sullivan (comet solo) ; Messrs.* W. Phypers and A. Williams (humorous items). The success of the evening was mainly due to the efforts of the secretary, Mr. W. Becker.
