GOLF JOHNSONVILLE CLUB.

Tiie annual meeting of the Johnsonville Golf Club was held on the 25th inst. at the offices of the Johnsonville Town Board. The president was in the chair, and the attendance of members showed that they took a keen interest in_the affairs of the club. me adoption of the report and balancesheet having been formally moved and seconded, the Chairman, in speaking to the motion^ said he wished to compliment the club on the healthy state of the finances. The income for the year had been spent mainly in the formation and maintenance of new greens, the erection of sheep-proof gates and fences, and the furnishing of the golf house. The balance of cash in hand amounted to £17 15s 9d, and personally he considered the result very satisfactory. The motion was carried unanimously. Notices of motion dealing with the following subjects were brought forward as under : — Mr. Sloane moved, and Mr. Graves seconded, that the names of proposed lady members be submitted in the first instance to a sub-committee of three ladies, whose decision in the matter of election should be forwarded to the Club Committee for final approval. The motion was carried. On the motion of Mr. Buddie, seconded by Mr. Sloane, it was resolved that rule 7be deleted and a new rule substituted as follows: — That the annual subscription shall be for gentlemen £2 12s 6d, and 'for ladies £I. lls 6d, subject, however, to a reduction of 10s 6d in each case provided subscriptions are paid before 30th June in each year. After that date the full subscription shall be enforced. A motion by Mr. Sloane to the effect that the numerical strength of the com mittee be reduced from 8 with a. quorum of 5 to 5 with a quorum of 2, caused considerable discussion. Eventually the motion was put and carried, and iule 4 altered accordingly. The retiring secretary, Mr. Dunbar Sloane, was referred to by members as one who had been untiring in his etforts for the advancement of the club and a hearty vote of thanks was accorded him. The following otiiceis were elected: — Captain, Mr. Dunbar Sloane ; lion, secretary, Mr. F. C. Buddie; iion. treabtirer, Mr. H. Ivatt Graves ; committee, Ressrs. Alexander Moore, R. Hirschbeig, and James Kerr ; Ladies' Committee, Mrs. Morgan, Misses Price and Bathara. The secretary repotted that the course had been thoroughly cleared of gorse and broom and that the new greens were in a fair way to become some oi the best in the Dominion. Finally he hoped that in view of the, work lately done, members would find that the lost-ball nuisance was practically eliminated. ,- The opening day for the 1914-15 season was fixed for the first Saturday in April, when Mrs. Wallis and the president will entertain the members of the club and their friends a.t afternoon tea on the links. Driving, approaching, and putting competitions will form part pf the afternoon's programme.
