RAM AND EWE FAIR KEEN DEMAND,

,"1T miORAFH.—- FRMS ASSOCIATION.) CHRISTCHURCH, 26th March. The annual ram and ewe fair held by the A. and P. Association commenced to-day on the Show Grounds at Addington with a sale of flock rams. There was a large attendance. The keen demand there has been this season for breeding ewes, in view of the fact that many farmers are going to devote more attention to sheep than to grain growing, naturally caused more attention to be taken, in the ram fair. The entry totalled 3337, as against 5287 last year. The falling off was principally in English Leicesters and Corriedales. The demand for flock rams was keen for all •:hose breeds which are favoured by those farmers who pay attention to fat lamb produeijidh. Southdowns, Shropshires, and Ryelands all sold remarkably well, Shropshire^ making a better average than for some years past. There was an irregular demand for Corriedales and lialfbreds, and only the good lines of rams met with any competition. English and Border Leicesters sold remarkably well, a3 did the few lines of Avonmoys ofipred. The range of prices for flock rams was: — Lii!coins ; 1914, 4£ guineas; Komneys, 3to 7 guineas ; English Leicesiers, 1£ to 7 guvne'l3 ; ..Bftrder Le l cesters, 2£ to 8 guineas ; iSouthdowns. 4| to 6j I guineas ; Shropshires, 4 to 1\ guineas ; ! Rye^vnds, sto 6J guineas : Corriedales, 4 to 6i guineas ; halfbrcds, 1| to b[ guineas.
