SALVATION ARMY CONGRESS
i — ♦ — OPENING MEETING TO-NIGHT. The second annual Congress of the Salvation Army in New Zealand will be inaugurated at the Citadel, Vivianstreet, this evening, when a welcome will be extended to the visiting delegates by Commissioner Richards. The majority of the 450 visiting delegates, who are expected from all parts of the Dominion, have now arrived, bringing the total number, with local Salvationists who will participate in tho Congress proceedings, up to fully 1500. The Dunedin and Feilding Salvation Army Brass Bands, two of the leading Army bands in the Dominion, will arrive in Wellington to-morrow, and will be welcomed by the City, Newtown, and Petone massed bands. The five bands will parade in the streets in the afternoon, and in the evening a musical festival will be held at the Citadel. On Sunday morning a Hohness meeting will be conducted at the Citadel by the Commissioner, and, if the weather is sufficiently fine, a big open-air demonstration will be held in the Basin Reserve in the afternoon. At 6.45 a great Salvation meeting will be held in His Majesty's Theatre, Courtenay-place. Throughout the day open-air meetings will also be conducted at various points throughout the city and suburbs. The only public function set down for Monday is "The Young People's Demonstration," which will be held in the Citadel at 7.30 p.m. In this children from the Eltham Boys' Home and the Wellington Children's Home will participate.
