SWIMMING THORNDON BATHS.

At the Thorndon Baths last evening the preliminary heats of a 100 yds handicap were decided. This event is the final of the series in the Ward Challenge Cup competition. The results are : First heat— T. H. M'Lean, lOsec, 1 ; J. Shechy, ssec, 2 ; F. Roberts, lscc. 3. Also started — YV. Lomas 6&ec. J. Shearer 6sec, S. Dutlson 4sec. and R. Evans scr. M'Lean won by 2ft from Sheeliy. A good struggle for third place_ resulted in Roberts gaining the position. Time, Blsec Second beat— A. W. Smith, 25scc, 1; \V. O'Moara, lOsec, 2; J. Thomas, 2SGC, 3. Also started — R. W. Kintr, 25sec. H. W. Harris 25sec, L. M'Caskey llsec, ami S. Henrys 6sec. Won by a yard, with Thomas close up tlind. Time, 91sec. „ The final will be decided to-morrow evening.
