LADIES' SWIMMING CLUB
The Ladies' Seagull Amateur Swimming Club has been busy this past week deciding, in a series of events, who was to be the aJI-round champion of the club this season. In the 100 yds medley (50yds breast-stroke and 50yds backstroke) Misses 0. Arthur and B. Gibbs tied for first place, but when, the event was reswum at a later date, the former won by a yard. In the 50yds free-style scratch race Misa Arthur had an easy victory over Miss Gibbs. The diving competition al6o resulted in a win for Miss Arthur, with Miss Gibbs again second ; and the plunging event saw another win for Miss Arthur, with Miss Bolton second. Miss Olyve Artlrtrr (captain of the club) thus gained the possible 12 points, securing Dr. Platts-Mills's trophy, with Miss Budgie Gibbs 7 points second, winning Mrs. F. Grady'a trophy. The "Batt" points trophy, for all races held during this season, was also finished this week, and resulted in another win for Miss Olyve Arthur, with 27 points, Miss Budgie Gibbs being second with 25 points, and Miss Daisy Bolton third with 14 points. Others were : Misses E. Craig 6. K. Arthur and F. Thompson 5, and M. Daubney 3. The 'president (Dr. Platts-Mills). Mrs. W. Wright, and Miss K. Arthur' (hon secretary) acted as judges during the series of events.
