THE CARNIVAL
GRAND CADET MUSTER OVER A THOUSAND BOYS.
Over a thousand Senior Cadets, khaki-clad, were massed on NeWtown Park this afternoon for the first item on the afternoon's programme of the Carnival. General Godley was present with Colonel E. W. Chaytor, Major Temperley, 1.G.5., and Major Hughes. Captain >O. U. Powles, Area Group Officer, commanded the parade. After the march past and general salnte, acknowledged by General Godley, the four battalions went through various brigade manoeuvres, then formed up ( for a. massed display of physical drill, which was in every way creditable. Lieut. Duffy and Sergeant-Major Parkes, who have been training the boys, were in charge of this section of the work. " In addition to the cutlass display by the men of H.M.S. Philomel at New.town Park to-night, there will be a number of naval events, including a spar and pillow fight, a human wheelbarrow race, a boot and barrel race, a medley race, a 100 yds backward race, and a bucket of water race.
