OVERTIME STRIKE
GENERAL AT ALL AUSTRALIAN PORTS. DEVELOPMENTS AWAITED. (By Telegr»ph.— Press Association.— Copyright.) (Received February 11, 9.20 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. The wharfmen's overtime strike is general at all ports controlled by the Federation. Both parties are awaiting developments at to-day's meeting. [The message ordering a " lazy strike " was to the following effect : — "Council, having carefully considered the position created t>y the refusal of. the shipowners to grant any concessions, havo decided upon a policy, and call upon branches to adhere loyally thereto ; that in pursuance of this policy the council has decided that until further instructions, on and after Monday, 9th February, no overtime is to be worked by any member of the Federation, and that hours of labour be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday ; that we recommend branches to_ make provision to ensure a fairer distribution of work amongst their members."]
