SHOREDITCH TRAGEDY
STARCHFIELD BEFORE THE COURT. (By Telegraph.— Prew Association.— Copyri«hl., (Received February 4, 10 a.m.) LONDON. 3rd February. •loliu Starchfield was charged at the Old-street Police Couit with the murder of his son. The prosecution stated that the body oi' the boy lay under the seat for three journeys between Chalk Farm and Broadstreet, and had 'not been discovered for two hours. Cake found- in the stomach had been eaten half an hour before death. This is important, as a Mrs. Wood stated last month that she saw a boy munching a similar cake. [Recently a seven-year-old boy was found strangled under the seat of a railway carriage at Shoreditch. and was identified as William, son of John Starchfield, a newsvendor, who heroically captured Stephen Titus on 27th September, 1912, when the latter was wanted on a charge of murder.]
