ONLY FOUR TELEGRAPH LINES LEFT
A trees foil over the telegraph line north of Ohau last night and carried thirteen lines away. The Ohiiu Gorge is blocked tho whole way. There are now only four linos in working condition north ot Woodvillo to carry on all tho work on both coasts between Wellington and Auckland, and delays in tho transmission of messages are therefore unavoidable. The lines aro causing a great deal of trouble to tho Department. A message received this afternoon Btates that owing to further lino interruptions work is showing over three hours' delay in the Auckland, Napier, and Wanganui districts. Owing to the wash-out north of Marton, on the Main Trunk lino, the llailway Department is arranging for a, transfer ot passengers at Porewa, six miles north of Marton, and trains from both ends will be considerably delayed.
