At an inquest held yesterday touching the death of a drover named John Mackay, who was found dead in an outliouae at the Taratahi Hotel the previous day, a verdict was returned that death was duo to heart disease. In giving his verdict the Coroner said no blamo was attachable to the licensee of the Taratahi Hotel, where deceased died. The distribution of prizes in connection with the young people of the local Salvation Army took place on Monday evening, when some thirty very handsome books were distributed by Bro. F. E. Tyler. Occasion was taken to farewell Sergt-Major Cobb, who left on Tuesday to Jive in Palmerston North. Bro. Cobb wa« complimented on tho able manner in which lie had looked after the junioia duriug his stay in Cartcrton. The juniors' annual picnic will be held in Cartcrtuu on Boxing Duy
