Fifty thousand persons traversed the gallery in Florence viewing tho MonaLisa. Public opinion in Florence is favourable to Perugia, who will be tried in Italy. A movement has been initiated for .opening subscriptions for his defence and providing comforts for him in prison. PARIS, 15th December. Perugia aiono among the workers engaged in tho Louvre failing to respond to a summons to attend the prefecture, a gendarme was sent to question him. The gendarme perfunctorily searched Perugia's lodgings, and dia not perceive the Mona Lisa, winch was hidden under rubbish in a cupboard.*
