A gang of about eighty farmers, their sons, and others, is being organised here to go to Wellington to work on the wharves. It is considered that 700 men can be got from the Manawatu district for the purpose. SYMPATHY OF FLAXWORKERS AN OFFER OF HORSES. (BT TELEGBAPH — PBBSS ASSOCIATION.) PALMERSTON N., This Day. The Manawatu Flax Workers' Executive this morning passed resolutions congratulating the watersiders on their solidarity and offering any assistance in their power. In response to Commissioner Cullen's appeal for horses it was decided to offer to provide the watersiders with horses. Sympathy was also expressed with the Huntly miners. PEAS GOING TO WASTE NELSON, This Day. Hundreds of pecks of peas are going to waste through the strike preventing shipping. The position is serious for growers.
