ON A NATIONAL BASIS. AUSTRALIAN PROPOSAL. By Telegraph.— Press Association.— Copyright. SYDNEY, 22nd October. " The Inter-State Labour Congress has resolved to convene an Australasian Union Congress next year for the purpose of accomplishing a Federation of Labour on a national basis. Mr. Catts (the president) said that the congress would doubtless cause a great stir, as it would cover all the States and New Zealand. A second speaker condemned Judge Heydon's recent strictures on the northern miners, and declared that such statements unfitted him for the position of Judge of the Arbitration Court. The congress appointed a deputation to wait upon the Minister of Justice with a request for the removal of Judge Heydon from tho Court.
"Anniversary Pound Night" of Holly Lodge will be held at Johnsonvillo on Saturday evening. An urgent meeting of the Wholesale Storemen b Union is called for to-night, when every member is summoned to attend. Mr. D.
