« .«. —*— MORE AB.OUT THE GROUPS AND TABLEAUX. The ninth group in the Historical Pageant on Saturday and Monday is arranged by Mrs. £. C. Penriile. This will form «, tableau depicting Cabot (Mr. Deslandee) narrating the tale of hu discovery of North America to Henvy VII. (Mr. E. W. Hursthouae). In this tableau John and Sebastian Cabot (Mr. Corstens) will be shown explaining to Henry VII. the voyage they have.taken under hw letters-patent and the dia covery by them of the mainland of North America. .The part of the Archbishop will be,taken by Mr. Perry, that of Queen Elizabeth of York by Miss Scaloa, Prince Arthur by Mr. N. Chilmah, th» ladies of the Court by Mrs. Penrice, Misses M'Lean, Francis, Shelton, Hackworth, and Tuetin. Many other* characters include Heralds, Guards, Indiana. Pages, etc. , The next group, tenth in, order of the procession*, is that of the knighting of Sir Walter Raleigh by Queen Elizabeth. The incident depicted will always be popular in pageantry, more particularly with the ladies. Queen Elizabeth (Miss M. Low) will enter the tableau ground carried in. a Sedan chair and attended by Yeomen of the Guard—Messrs. Moss (captain), T. Hay, A. Cornfoot, R. Wheeler, G. Bowater, W. Tiller, J. Nor ton, and T. Plant. When she reach** the tableau ground, on which are aesenibled her courtiers and advisers —including* Archbishop Matthew Parker (Mr. A. J. Bloxham), Sir Francis Drake (Mr. A. Cleave), Sir Francis Bacon (Mr. N. Williamson), Admiral Sir John Hawkins (Mr. J. Lynex), Earl of Essex (Mr. W. Martin)* Earl of Leicester (Mr. S. F. M'Nab), Sir Walter Raleigh (Mr. W. Turner), the Lord Marshal (Mr. J. P. Cooper), Lord Burleigh (Mr. Thomas), Lord Howard of Effingham (Mr. L. B. Midgley)—she is about to step from her Sedan chair, when the gallant Sir Walter advances and spreads his cloak to prevent Her Majesty soiling her shoes on the wet ground. The Queen borrows a sword from one of the retinue and knights Sir Walter. This group ha* been- entirely arranged by Messrs. Kirkcaldie and Stains, the firm generously providing all the materials and making in their own premises all of the costume* excepting that of Queen Elizabeth, a magnificent creation ,lent for the occasion by Mre. Montagu. Tho characters forming the group are all members of the staff, who have worked in with Mr. J. Mackenzie, the converter, most enthusiastically to produce what will undoubtedly be a most effective group. The trophy, which will be given to the convener of the group obtaining the most votes, is now on view in Mr. T. Shields's window, in Willis-street: It is only those who buy tickets before Saturday who will be permitted to vote. The booking plan, which is now open at the Dresden, is rapidly filling up.
