At Caulfield, Recaller did five furlongs over the grass in lmin 4sec ; Radnor beat Marculfus over eight furlongs on the. grass in lmin 20gsec ; MidWallalo, nine furlongs in 2min Oisecj the first seven in lmin 31sec; Scottish Chief, four furlongs in 55isecj Mountain Princess and Avonwort did six furlonds on the grass in lmin 20|sec ; Mid- | night Sun, nine furlongs on the sand in 2min O^sec, the last mile being completed in lmin 47secj Gladwyn, on the grass, did the last v nine furlongs of a spin in 2rain 3-£ sec; Maltvavera did five furlongs on the sand in lmin ssec. It transpires that Midnight Sun was badly interfered with in tho Cup race, and was nearly brought down. He was never nearer than twelfth. He will not j bo entered for future events, but will [ probably go to New Zealand shortly. Aurifer is well, and his chances for the Melbourne Cup aro liked. Hartfell is a trifle sore. Uncle Sam has been improved by tho Cup race, and Eubulus lis also shaping better.^ Lord Alwyne ! is not a likely starter for the Cup. Smith headed the jockeys' fees for the Caulfield Cup meeting with £160 . 18s.
