SIR IAN HAMILTON'S REPORT. PRESS CRITICISM. (By Telegraph.— Press Association.— Copyright.) OTTAWA, 19th August. The report by Sir lan Hamilton, In-spector-General of the Oversea Forces, on the Canadian Militia, in which he recommends the establishment of a National Reserve and the creating of adequate war stores and longer periods of training, has been freely criticised. The Liberal press criticises the report as being intended as "a preliminary to the introduction of a system of universal military training in Canada on similar lines to that m New Zealand." The Free Press declares that the engagement of Sir lan Hamilton was "merely a move on the part of the Minister for Militia and Defence (Colonel Hughes) towards the establishment of military service."
