TRAINING FOR OLYMPIC GAMES. APPEAL FOR. FUNDS. (By Telegraph.— Press Association.— Copyright.) Times— Sydney Sun Special Cables. LONDON, 19th August. The circular appeal for funds to adequately train British athletes for the Olympic Games states that the results at Stockholm, last year, were not only a shock to everyone -caring for British uport, but should not be allowed to occur again. Commenting on the appeal, The Times states that well-built boys and girls would riot be demoralised, nor would they lose their better instincts because, instead of partaking in games in a slouching and haphazard way, they were taught to tne their muscles in the correct way. "The work undertaken by the committee." adds The Times, "entirely deservea the support asked for." Th© Times has donated £5500 to the Olympic Funfl. THE AMERICAN AMATEUR ATHLETE. EXPERT~VIEW.
