TERRITORIALS FINED
"H you think I'm going to come out here and waste my time every Court sitting you are greatly mistaken. I've been lenient long enough," said Dr. M 'Arthur at the Hutt Magistrate's Court to-day, when the first of a long fet of 15 Territorials charged with breaches of the Defence Act, came for- , ward. In dealing with the offences his Worship took into consideration the 'past attendances of those charged. The following were' each fined £1, with the alternative of seven days' military detention at the Alexandra Barracks : — Patrick D. Rae, Samuel H. Fawcett, Sydney N. ' Stratton, William Genge Fitzmaturice, Harry John Barlow, George W. P.. Burns, Daniell F. Nefll, and Esric Leon Booth. Harman Fitzmanrice made' on appearance on two charges; he was convicted, and fined £l on the first and £2 on the second. The following were dismissed ; — Leonard Hook, Foster Caleb Lusty, Francis Patrick OTBLeefe, William Henry Miller, and Esric M'lntosh. A fine of £2 wae inflicted on WiHianl E. Cooley. Mr. P. W. Jackson, appearing on bebaS of a number of those charged, raised the point that they were under the impression that they had the option of missing two hall drills on condition fcbat they attended the remainder. This was discountenanced, however, by the -officec .present.,
