ROSENEATH, TAKE NOTE TO THE EDITOR.
Sir, — We have daily evidence of the boroughs of Miramar, Karori, and Wadestown groaning under the burden of^ electric tramways. These b6roughs clamoured for those tramways, and are now exceedingly sorry that they did. as they have found they have bitten off more than they can chew. In many of the older lands they have found by experience that the electric tram is absolutely antiquated and Useless compared with the up-to-date motor 'bus. The motor "bus can negotiate almost any road without the expense of special preparation of the road, besides all the expense of laying lines, poles, building of power houses, machinery, etc. There is absolutely no comparison either in expense or utility. The motor 'bus holds sway in the older lands. I consider Roseneath is extremely fortunate in not having committed itself to the oldfashioned burden, i.e., electric tramways. Having traversed the route I am convinced that there is a splendid paying proposition in the route to Roseneath via Majoribanks, Hawker streets, across Town Belt, on the road already there. Think of it : ho expensive preparation of roadway, etc. A few motor 'buses run via the above route would also cater_ for a great many ,'of the Mount Victoria residents as well. I submit the above proposal for the serious consideration of the Roseneath Ratepayers' Association.— J am, etc., UP-TO-DATE. 14th June, 1913.
