The Union Company's chartered steamer Willochra. which has taken the place of the old Warrimoo in the Intercolonial service, and which is due here from Dunetlin to-morrow, was the centre of a great deal of interst during her stay at the Otago port. The charge of sixpence per head was made for the right of going on board, and the result is that a considerable sum will be handed over to the Shipwreck Relief Society and the Dnnedin Hospital. There can be no doubt, sayß a southern paper, that should the Willochra be made a permanent unit of the red funnel fleet, she would immediately find herself a favourite boat. Much interest is being evinced in local shipping in the first appearance of the Willochra at this port, She will sail on her initial trip to Sydney direct at 5 p,m. to-morrow. The Essex has been still further delayed at Wanganui by the heavy weather, but it is expected that loading operations will be completed to-day, and the vessel should get away for Avonmouth, via Las Palmas, this evening. The Shaw, Savill, and Albion Company's R.M.S. lonic, which arrived from Lyttelton this morning, berthed at the Glasgow Wharf to complete Homeward loading. She is scheduled to sail for London, Via way ports, on Thursday nest. As the Wairau bar was yesterday reported to be unworkable, the coastal steamers Blenheim, Wairau, and Opawa are not due back from Blenheim until to-morrow. Owing to the Blenheim's delay, the lluia Is to make a trip to Havelock and the Sounds. She leaves this evening', and is due back on Sunday. Instead of coming to Wellington as was originally intended, the Tyser liner Whakarua sailed from Wanganui roadstead yesterday for Napier. She is now due here on Saturday to complete Homeward loading, and will sail for London, via Las Palmas, on Monday.
