NEW BUILDING IN WILLIS-STREET
The old wooden building almost opposite to the Evening Post Office in Willis-street is to be pulled down shortly to make way for a new building of modern design. The new structure, which is to be erected for the executors qf J. and E. Barber, will occupy the full depth of the section and will consist of a basement and three floors. The basement and ground floor are to be occupied by a retail ironware firm, and negotiations for the occupation of the other floors_ are now proceeding. The building will be of modern construction in all particulars, built of brick, concrete, and steel, fifty feet high, and with a flat roof. To the ground floor there will be a handsome glass front, with side entrance to the upper floors. The facade will add" materially to the appearance of the street, especially as the building will be brought into alignment with the -adjoining premises. Tenders are now being called. The architect is Mr. Wm. C. Chatfield. .
