LIVE-SAVING
PRIVILEGES GRANTED BY CITY COUNCIL. The City Council had before it last evening two recommendations of the Baths and Reserves Committee in reference to life saving in accidents in the water:—' ■ • That the Royal ' Life Saving Society be granted authority to place illustrated charts explaining the method of rescuing a drowning i person, the release from the grasp of a. drowning - person, and the^ methods of resuscitation .in all waiting' sheds • close to the ' beaches, swimming baths and bathing sheds in the different bays of Wellington, and on allCorporation«property close to beaches. That the council agree to the request of the Royal Life Saving Society that school children - who gain the Proficiency Certificate, Bronze -Medallion, or higher awards' of the society, be allowed to enter the /baths 'for the remainder of the season, free of charge, dating from the time of their gaining, the award. Both recommendations' were adopted.
