SWIMMING AND ATHLETICS. • The City Council adopted the recom-, mendatioxfs of the Reserves Committee last evening :— That the Athletic Football Sports .Club be granted.- permission to hold an evening sports meeting at the Basin ' Reserve on Wednesday next,, the' 29th January, subject to the public being admitted free, arkl also subject to the sports commencing after 6.30 o'clock. That, the Wellington Centre of the N.2.A. Swimming Association be grant- j ed .permission to hold carnivals at the ' ,Te Aro Baths on the following dates:— 29th January, • Swifts Swimming Club s 22nd > February, Wellington Swimming Club; Bth March, Old Boys' Swimimng Clubj subject to the council collecting 5 per cent, of the gross "gate."
