SIXTY-FIFTH ANNIVERSARY
The anniversary services of the.Syd-ney-street Primitive Methodist Church were held yesterday. At the morning service the Rev. H. Cottom gave a short address to the young people, and also delivered an appropriate sermoh from the text. "This is none other than the house of God." A very large congregation assembled in the evening, when the Rev. P. J. Cossum conducted the service. His discourse was based on the Corinthians> chapter 3, verse 11, "For other foundation can no man lay than is laid, Jesus Christ." The preacher emphasised the importance of character-building ; the teachings of Christ were one 1 of the elements in a high and noble character. Anthems were rendered by the choir at both services ; whilst in the evening Mr. T. C. Newton contributed a solo, Miss Jean Nicholas officiating at the organ. The celebrations will be continued on Thursday evening, when an organ recital and concert will be given under the direction of Mr. A. E. Carter, S. Mus., T.C.L.* assisted by other artists.
