FISH MARKET
♦' LARGE SUPPLIES. There were bargains to be had at the Municipal Fish Market this morning. Fish were in large supply, consignments being received from Napier, tho trawler Energy, and local dealers. The catch was big, and consequently prices were Sow. Good business wa3 done in the morning, bu'f, Ihero wero still plenty to choose from in the afternoon. The public are awakening to tho valuo of the market — but the awakening h slow— and when they fully realise its significancp, the ircys should not, remain lilldd long. There was •variety in tlie display — snapper, sole, flounder, mold, terekihi. gurnard, barracouta, trpvalli. knhuwai (fresh and Rinoked), and a lone John Dory. Solo went at one shilling a bundle of seven or eight ; lai'ge moki at one shilling and eightccnponce (a boon to the boardinghoiißC* keeper) ; gurnard, tvvo bundles for one shilling (averaging six to the bundle) ; terakihi from threepence to one shilling. Smoked fish were at fourpence per pound. To-morrow will bo Friday, und there will bo plenty of fixh in Iho market, advice having been received of nuantitiiw jo arrive. Xh« naatket op«a» at 8 g'ctock.
